BCC Arched And Angle Blinds Product Overview
Since 1998, BCC has fabricated fully operable blinds and shades with virtually no limitations for size or shape of window. The following information is intended as an overview for our specialty shaped window covering products.
FINAL MEASUREMENTS
Unlike other window covering products, specialty shape applications REQUIRE exact measurements, rounded down to the nearest 1/8 inch. Do not adjust measurements with additions or deductions.
MEASUREMENTS AND TEMPLATES FOR ARCHED AND ANGLED BLINDS
Trapezoid, triangle, pentagon and other angled applications require measurements ONLY – no template. Measurements for most arched blinds can be provided for a CAD plotted output with no template required.
INSTALLATION
We encourage you to let us know in advance of a scheduled installation and we can arrange for a technician to be on standby during business hours.
INSIDE MOUNT
Most BCC specialty shape blinds are designed for an inside mount installation. As an inside mount, there are very few limitations for size or shape. Note that inside mount for specialty shape blinds refers to an inside mount on ALL sides of window frame. If you are working with a client who requires an outside mount, please email a photo for fabrication approval.
PREFERRED MATERIALS
3/4 inch light filtering and semi-opaque materials are preferred as they will provide the most pleasing aesthetics. Room darkening materials are available for a client that requires this option and will have more noticeably pronounced light strikes. All fabric options must be selected from the BCC Approved Materials List.
MOTORIZATION
Somfy, Rollease Acmeda and the Hunter Douglas PowerView low voltage motor systems are available. Other motor systems may be available upon request. Depending upon motor manufacture, power options include a reloadable battery wand, rechargeable battery wand, individual plug in transformer, low-voltage hard-wired, solar charger, and other industry standard options.
SMART HOME DEVICES & HOME AUTOMATION
Hub, gateway and drivers are available to integrate with virtually every home automation system available today. Refer to motor manufacture’s product details for more information.
LOW VOLTAGE WIRING
All low voltage wiring should be specified as a home run. Daisy chain options are not suggested and will require approval in advance of order.
OPERATION AND FUNCTION
Specialty shape blinds are designed to be either fully raised or fully lowered, not midway. Bottom or moving rail will have subtle to significant angle pitch variances as compared to adjacent shades during operation.
SIZE / SHAPE LIMITATIONS FOR ARCHED AND ANGLED BLINDS
There are virtually no shape or size limitations for most specialty shapes provided the blind will be an inside mount. Common shapes include triangles, trapezoids with just about any degree of angle, pentagons, imperfect arches, perfect arches, bullet arches, eyebrow arches, quarter rounds, extended quarter rounds, and virtually all other shapes.
HARDWARE OBSTRUCTIONS
Specialty shape blinds are intended for an installation within a smooth window frame entirely free of obstructions such as latches, crank handles or other hardware on all sides of the window. Photos are required for fabrication approval if there are any potential obstructions.
MANUALLY OPERATED BLINDS
Specialty shaped blinds are best suited for motorized operation. Manually operated specialty shaped blinds will have significant shape and size limitations, will require a cord cleat tie off, and require multiple draw cords for operation.
